What a lot of pot!!!

Doesn't look much does it, but by heck I was really grateful that Thelma said we could store it round her house for the time being.

6 hours earlier........

We finally got the go-ahead from Steve to access the field, so it was a frantic couple of days letting the volunteers know. YAHOO didn't help by refusing to send out some of the emails. Presumably I set off alarm bells and YAHOO thought I was spamming. WRONG!!!. Anyway finally got them sent and got a great response. 37 people answered the call, and arrived at 9.45 on Saturday morning. Also attending were members of the Coventry Heritage Metal Detecting Society. My thanks to their chair, Alan, for getting them organised.

After the general welcome speech, covering the finer points of health and safety and taking the register, Tony Walsh, from AOC, explained to the volunteers how the field walking would be done. Moments later we set off for the field.

It was a gloriously sunny day, with just the right amount of breeze. The only let down being the very scratchy stubble left over from harvesting. Yes I did tell people to wear trousers, and ended up NOT following my own advice, and wore shorts. What an idiot! My legs the next day displayed a glorious array of scratches!

After handing out vast quantities of finds bags and sharpies, Tony led the way to the 1st field, and the metal detectorists started in the second field.

On your marks................

Get set...........................

Go................................!

Comparing finds                   Doing what they do best.

 A well deserved break

Still smiling!!!

And so this happy day brings us back to..........
