Just come back from the lecture with a bucket load of things to do...print of letters to all our members who couldn't come tonight, informing them of our good news, then printing off the events, then printing the labels, then folding everything including the bulletins and then stuffing envelopes...but it was worth it. I couldn't have gone to bed any earlier as I was on such a high from the lecture.
Ian Soden's "Medieval Royal Exile and Captivity" talk was brilliant. I've just finished reading Philippa Gregory's "The White Queen" which is the first of a series all about the shenanigans of that time. The talk centred on Henry Tudor and I was interest to note that most of the places he'd been exiled to in France, I'd actually visited.
But nothing could quite capture the feeling when I announced to the members that we'd been awarded the grant. I honestly choked up and nearly burst into tears. What a muppet!!!
So, with lots of interest already from the members, it's time to sit down and firm up the timetable, which we will do within the next couple of weeks.
The hard work has only just begun!!!!
BAIT is a project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. This year long project aims to explore evidence of a Romano-British site. This evidence takes the form of thousands of pottery sherds, building material and what initially brought us to the site, a D-shaped crop mark. The project is run by Coventry and District Archaeological Society in partnership with AOC Archaeology Group and supported by Heart of England Community Foundation, CBA Challenge Funding and Peugeot.
